About The Company

Stafford Logistics, Inc. owned and operated a trucking fleet that provided waste-hauling services in the Southeast. The waste hauling segment, which comprised the majority of the Company’s revenue, primarily involved the hauling of municipal solid waste from transfer stations to landfills under long-term commercial contracts with major national waste companies including Waste Management, Allied Waste and Advanced Disposal.

Case Study

In 2006, Linx partnered with Craig Stafford in a recapitalization transaction designed to provide partial liquidity, upgrade the organization and pursue acquisition and geographic expansion opportunities.  The Company was a leader in hauling municipal solid waste from transfer stations to landfills for waste companies in its Georgia market.  There were numerous opportunities to service additional transfer stations and expand Stafford’s geographic footprint.  In order to handle the growth, Linx worked with the Company to implement several organizational changes, including hiring a CFO, building a safety department, implementing a comprehensive insurance program, instituting a management stock incentive program, installing a new ERP and creating a custom dispatch system.  With an improved organization, the Company expanded into the Florida market and completed an acquisition.  Significant investments were also made to expand Stafford’s fleet of tractors and trailers to service the Company’s growth.

While many companies struggled during the Great Recession, Stafford continued to grow and improve its margins.  During the Linx investment, the Company’s revenue doubled.

In 2010 with several identified acquisition opportunities, Stafford was sold to another private equity firm.
